submited by Russell Wed 22 Jun 05 Edited Wed 08 Feb 06 |
So I installed white box linux and was trying to reover from a disk error, and fsck keep getting to 60% done then restarting.
# fsck -C -y /dev/md1

e2fsck 1.35 (28-Feb-2004)
/dev/md1 was not cleanly unmounted, check forced.
Pass 1: Checking inodes, blocks, and sizes
Inode 8 has illegal block(s). Clear? yes

Found refence to the same problem here.
Aparently this is a known bug
What the hell ??
RHEL 4.0 just came out, (whitebox 4.0 is built from that ). Well that's a big dissapointment. I had figured (wrongly) that I would be safer to usr the stable White box Linux than the more expimental FC4. I just installed the the package from FC4 (e2fsprogs-1.37-4.i386.rpm) and I'm waiting to see if it will complete properly.
20 minutes lator:
And NOPE , didn't work , what a pice of shit.
I wounder if its part of the kernel and I must restart for the change to take effect ?
