I'll look into rdiff. but Keep in mind my initial goal was never speed, it as accuricy. Rsync will give me that. Also The Crappy One sided internet connections we get (Huge download and small upload) mean that it's not actually that expensive to download the files to check them..
But doesn't Rsync only do a byte-wise check if the filesize and timestamp don't match ?
Still I agree it's slow. but it is a command line script-able method of verifying that the files match.
