I found this :

But that seems to be for a smaller screen unit. I just got the insignia pilot which has a 320 by 240 screen. I found this command works correctly for my unit:
mencoder mymovie.avi -ovc lavc -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=128 -ffourcc XVID -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=256 -vf scale=320:240,crop=320:240 -ofps 15 -o mymovie_insignia.avi
The crop command seems to be unneeded but I don't think it slows it down either. On my AMD Athlon 64 is processes a 1/2 hour show in about 3 minutes.
